Day 8: Vang Vieng - Vientiane "Vang Vieng - Vientiane"

Embark on the three-hour drive to the nation’s capital of Vientiane. Check into the hotel, then kick off a city tour at the historical temple of Wat Si Saket, probably Vientiane’s oldest still-standing temple. Then visit Hor Phra Keo, the former home of the famed emerald Buddha, which was lost to Thailand in 1828 and which is imbued with myth. Hor Phra Keo is now a beautiful museum filled with Buddhist sculpture and artifacts. Afterward, we will visit the Laos national monument, the massive, gold-covered That Luang stupa; then proceed to the Victory Gate monument, Anousavary, dedicated to those who fought for independence from France. In the afternoon, visit Ban Nongbuathong village, famous for its beautiful woven silks and an excellent place to buy souvenirs. Guests can opt to go shopping at the central market before driving back to the hotel in time for dinner. Overnight at hotel in Vientiane.
